Our Strengths

Our incomparable strength lies in the fact that we have absolute goodwill of the local population and local authority officials. This is attributed to our ability to identify projects that are relevant to the needs of the local population and our good implementation rates.

Secondly, VCD has established infrastructure on the ground, that is, two partially equipped offices in Ganyliel. This office serve as meeting points for local communities and are managed by field staff working on our on-going activities.

Third, VCD has a selection of well qualified training consultants who are conversant with working in the Southern Sudan regions and are always ready and willing to carry out any capacity development program as needed. Very importantly, VCD has a wide repertoire of information about the area from years of interacting with and serving the community and evident experience in community development work.

Our Weaknesses

We lack sustainable funding so that our work comes to halt every time the donors do not release required funds in time.

Our Opportunities

Because of the goodwill we enjoy with the community, VCD is able to mobilize people to participate in various activities are required. We should therefore take the advantage to have a wider coverage so that more people gain from our activities.

Our established infrastructure should also work towards developing and nurturing partnerships with other NGOs and CBOs in the same field to enjoy the synergy gained from working together to achieve goals. A partnership with SC-UK enables VCD to make a step forward and considered as a big strength.

Our Threats

One of the main threats we face is due to the non-continuity of our capacity building program. We therefore tend to train different lots of people at different times even where a follow-up or recall was needed, these posses a threat to the output of the capacity building program.
